La Motocicletta
Like many aging Millennials, I got rather into cocktails during the pandemic; I've slowly been gathering recipes and writing them into my little brown cocktail book (along with notes of spirits & riffs).
Last year, I borrowed the book Spritz from the Toronto Public Library and went deep into the lovely world of the bubbly cocktails - at least as much as Toronto's gated alcohol selection would allow.
One of my favourite cocktails is now the Bicicletta
- 90 ml [3 Oz] Dry White Wine
- 60 ml [2 Oz] Campari
- Top with Soda water over ice & add an orange wedge/wheels.
Well, it's dry January... I've been drinking Non-alcoholic Red bitter aperitifs with soda to give a little spice of life. I've decided to try it as a true Campari alternative in a cocktail (And low alcohol cocktails, going forward).
So, I've done it. The wine is too much for the aperitif by itself, so I inverted the recipe for the best balance.
La Motocicletta
- 100 ml [~3 Oz] (Or one bottle) Stappi
- 60 ml [2 Oz] De-alcoholized Wine
- Top with Tonic water (Quinine to help with the Campari sub)
- Orange wedge
The Wife approves. Maybe I'll tweak a little more, but I'm about ready to pen it into the book.
Cheers.
